‘Ask the GP’ sessions
…with our clinical lead Dr Beth Thomas (GP and advanced menopause specialist) are packed full of expertise and evidence-based insights
Delivered online across either 60 or 90 minutes, here’s how they work:
We share with you a link to an anonymous question box so that your colleagues can submit their questions in advance of the session;
Questions are grouped into themed groups to be answered during the session;
Sessions start with a basic overview of what our hormones are doing in perimenopause and why this matters;
Emma and Beth work through all pre-submitted questions - attendees can of course ask additional questions during the session.
Sessions can be purely dedicated to perimenopause/menopause health, or can cover women’s health more broadly.
Our clients say:
“So many things I just didn't know! I felt quite emotional during the session because menopause symptoms (and women's issues, generally) are so often shameful or the butt of a joke. To have an informed, direct and honest session felt amazing. I now feel empowered to go and talk to my GP. Whereas, prior to the session, I felt much more reluctant about that and felt like I would be shooed out without being listened to. Well, they're going to listen to me now! Thank you so much. Absolutely amazing. Life changing stuff…”
“So much information - and all explained, with the reasoning and explanation behind different options and why some options would be better for different people, and what the different considerations are. I have been experiencing some symptoms i had put down to iron deficiency or fatigue which I now think might be the start of peri menopause, I'm going to find out more and make a GP appointment - thank you”
“Lunch and Learn” Awareness Sessions
Our popular ‘Demystifying Menopause’ sessions can be run online or in person and cover:
Perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause - understand the difference
How early can it start
What are the symptoms - both well-known and more surprising
How might this impact on someone in a work context
Overview of HRT
Non-HRT symptom management
How can you help yourself to thrive and access the right care and support
How to prepare, plan, and approach your GP for help
How to approach your line manager for support
Outcomes: At the end of this session, attendees will understand the various stages of menopause, possible symptoms, and available treatments. They will feel comfortable advocating for themselves with their GP (if needed) and discussing any support they might need from their line manager.
Course resources included: Guide to approaching your GP + Symptom checklist (PDF)
We will very happily discuss adapting the content to suit your audience.
Our clients say:
“It was helpful understanding symptoms and the different options available for HRT. I had thought it was just menopause when you stopped your cycle so had not realized about the stage before it being peri and still getting your cycle.”
“Just wanted to say how incredibly helpful I found it - especially the explanation that you can still be having periods and be experiencing symptoms of the menopause. That's exactly where I am right now, and I couldn't understand how that could be the case, so haven't been to see my GP for fear of seeming an idiot. Thanks so much.”
We strongly recommend pairing these awareness sessions with training for line managers - either live or online self-directed learning - to ensure managers too have the tools and knowledge to manage conversations around menopause with confidence.
